Excel Power Query

 
There is a functionality inside Excel called Power Query that allows you to connect to the database, pull data from it, and view the data anyway you desire.  If you are using a version of Excel older than 2016 Power Query is an optional functionality, and you will have to download it from Microsoft.  If you are using Excel 2016 or newer the name has been changed to ‘Get & Transform’, and it is included with Excel.  Excel has always had a functionality called Microsoft Query which allowed you to pull data from the database, but you had to know SQL to use it.  Power Query allows you to query the database and pull info in a non-destructive way without any knowledge of SQL.  And it returns a ‘live’ query to the Excel worksheet – meaning every time you open the worksheet it has the latest information from the database.
