Work Order Form
A work orders is a key object in ShopPAK. They capture job costs and are used to communicate information between the front office and shop floor. Front office personnel create work orders based on how they want to organize and schedule work. Work orders can be high-level summaries, or they can be very detailed…..containing department estimates, labor routings, and material requirements.
The most important piece of information on the work order is the work order number itself. The work order number is used by shop employees to post time to a job. If shop employees pick material from inventory, they also use the work order number to capture material usage.
Time and materials posted to a work order are automatically applied to the work order’s Job Item, and up to the overall Job level as well. This makes job costing seamless and automatic – throughout all levels of a ShopPAK job.
Located under the ShopPAK major tab “Jobs”, the Work Order form is used to create, update, and delete Work Order information. The Work Order form is controlled by the Job Tree, located under the “Jobs” tab. If you select a particular Work Order node from the Job Tree, you’ll see the Work Order’s information appear in the Work Order form.
TIP: We recommend reading “Job Hierarchy” before reviewing this chapter as it introduces the Job, Job Item, Work Order and Product level objects. It also describes the hierarchical relationship of these objects.
